Welcome to Schmersal

Safety in system: Protection for man and machine!

Under this motto, the Schmersal Group offers its customers the largest range of safety switching appliances and systems worldwide for the protection of human life and machines.

Innovations
The range of application for the new MZM 120 is clearly defined. The safety sensor is designed for applications whereby machinery and plants are cleaned by means of hot steam or high-pressure water jet systems and aggressive cleaning agents. In other words, it is particularly destined to the construction of food-processing machinery, for which Schmersal also has developed other industry-specific safety switchgear.  more

"A single product series for all imaginable application scenarios": With this idea in mind the Schmersal centre of excellence for optoelectronic safety products in Mühldorf/Inn, Germany, has developed new type 4 safety light curtains and light-grids according to IEC/ EN 61496, and first introduced those innovations on SPS/ IPC/ DRIVES.  more

The new PROTECT SELECT series close the gap between safety relay modules and programmable safety control systems.  more

Safety standards
23.12.2011
We are pleased to note the continued significant interest in this brochure, which is now issued in its 3rd edition. A contributory factor may well be that until the end of the year (up to 31.12.2011) the harmonised standard EN 954-1:1996 can be used as basis for the implementation of safety-related parts of control systems (and that this was not withdrawn with loss of the so-called presumption of conformity on 29.12.2009 as originally planned).  more
