Welcome to the NEWSLETTER Issue 02-2009

Wednesday, 18. November 2009

Ladies and Gentlemen,

At the 2009 SPS/ IPC/ DRIVES Fair, which will take place at Nuremberg from November 24 till November 26, we will present you innovative products, some of which having their premiere at the fair.

We will also present you qualified services, which will enable you to optimise the safety and productivity of your machines.

Visiting Hall 9 Booth 460 is anyhow worthwhile. In this Newsletter you will find a preview of the innovations that are in the store for you.

Products

Particularly flexible:

Standard in higher design quality: control panels for the guard door

We have developed a modular range of control panels for the most substantial machine functions (emergency stop, on/off, reset...), which we can configure and equip in accordance with your wishes and needs. The slender, shock-resistant enclosure can be quickly snapped onto the customary aluminium profile systems, which are used in mechanical engineering, and can accommodate four control elements. As the control elements are regarded, you can choose from our comprehensive, tried-and-tested programme of illuminated pushbuttons, selector switches, signalling devices with LED, key-operated switches and standard-compliant emergency stop command devices.  more

Particularly innovative:

The latest technology in a familiar "jacket"

At the Fair, you will get to know the CSS 16. We have "implanted" the innovative CSS technology in the enclosure of the million-fold tried-and-tested AZ 16 standard safety switch. This means that if you have been using the AZ 16 until now, you will be able to benefit from now on from the advantages of the non-contact operating principle of the CSS technology, without needing to change your construction. The basic measurements of the AZ 16 and the CSS 16 are 100% compatible!  more

Particularly compact and easy-to-fit:

New position switch with safety function

The new position switches with safety function of the Z/T 196 type are extremely compact: although fixing and mounting dimensions are identical, the compact switch requires less mounting space than conventional standardized switches. With a height of only 20 mm and three possible cable or connector positions, the switch will in many cases enable a reduction of the required size of the safety components themselves.  more

Particularly tamper-proof:

Safety sensor CSP 34 with paired coding

For the CSS technology Schmersal developed a version in which the sensor and the target have a paired coding. The CSP 34 offers the same advantages as its well-known family member, the CSS 34. Up to 31 safety sensors can be wired in series and monitored through a common safety module. The devices do not only tolerate a large guard door misalignment; they even detect this misalignment and emit a warning, so that the operator can realign the guard door, before the machine detects an error in the safety circuit.  more

Standards

Simplifying the risk analysis: Library for the SISTEMA software

If you are already using the SISTEMA software, you know that the programme facilitates the choice of the safety-related parts of control systems and helps you to quickly find the correct Performance Level to DIN EN ISO 13849-1. If you use our library tool in addition to that, you will have all relevant product data at your disposal and the selection of the components for the safety guards will be even more simplified. We will be pleased to demonstrate you the most effective way for using this tool at SPS/ IPC/ DRIVES.  more

Applications

Run-on time measurement on optoelectronic safety guards

Besides our products, we will present you our comprehensive range of services at SPS/ IPC/ DRIVES. You will learn how and which engineering support the Schmersal Group can offer you - worldwide and completely personalized. A specific case study can be found here: we help machinery and plant builders recording the after-travel in hazardous areas, which are protected by means of optoelectronic safety guards.  more

"Live" machine safety

These are just some of our innovations, which we will present at Nuremberg. Many new products will be exhibited "live": we have taken a machine from our production line and equipped it with the most diverse safety guards especially for the fair, so that you can see our product "at work".

Plan your visit!

If you like to plan your visit to the fair beforehand, you can make an appointment at 0202/ 6474-868. Do not hesitate to ask us your specific questions or to submit your specific projects at the fair; our sales engineers and product managers will be pleased to discuss them with you. Regardless of the product group you are interested in, our experts are looking forward to meet you!
