Safety solution for direct human-robot collaboration
The Schmersal safety controller specifies a definable three-dimensional working zone for the robot and registers immediately if this area is left. In this case, the robot is automatically shut down by the controller. At the same time, the safety controller monitors the speed up to the threshold at all times. This means that the speed can only ever be so fast that the robot can break at any time without leaving the movement zone allowed. The Safety Controller from Schmersal is an established safety solution for robot manufacturers which enables humans and robots to work together without a safety fence separating them.
AZM 200 D solenoid interlock - for robot workstations with a safety fence
The AZM 200 D solenoid interlock to lock safety doors for walk-in hazardous areas on robot workstations offers numerous benefits, including the fact that no second safety switch working on a different principle is required to achieve a high safety level. It is therefore ideal for setup mode on robot workstations. In the AZM 200 D, two targets are evaluated separately. Two safety outputs are assigned to each target. In setup mode, only the door target is queried, so the system can be set up with the door ajar. In normal mode, both targets, the door recognition and the actuator, are evaluated. This amendment allows two safety functions to be achieved by one piece of safety switchgear. The AZM 200 D has an additional target in the actuator casing that signals to the safety controller that the door is closed or ajar but not locked. The operator can leave the hazardous area at any time. At the same time, no second engineer can enter into the hazardous area.
Opto-electronic safety equipment to secure robotic cells
With opto-electronic safety systems, such as safety light curtains and light grids, the transmitter and receiver are housed in two separate enclosures in front of the area to be secured. A safety field made up of infrared beams is sent by the transmitter and evaluated by the receiver. If somebody breaks the safety field by entering the hazardous area, for example, a stop signal is immediately triggered to bring the robot movement to a standstill. With the SLC/SLC 440 - 445 product range, Schmersal has developed three ranges which meet different requirements and ensure that areas and hazardous areas around robot workstations can be made safe while taking up very little space.
tec.nicum - consultancy and service for setup and operation
tec.nicum, the newly founded Safety Services division of the Schmersal Group, offers training and consultancy services which specifically cover the requirements of the standards, regulations and ordinance relative to robot workstations. The tec.nicum specialists also carry out risk assessments and comprehensive evaluation of risks in robot workstations and analyse robotics systems with respect to their compliance with the applicable laws and standards.
