In most applications a stoppage in the conveyor transport system has a huge impact on the overall productivity. Talking about the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) an important part of a conveyor transport systems is the conveyor belt itself beside the drive and the pulleys/idlers. To increase the overall productivity, it makes sense to keep the belt in good condition. Therefore belt-monitoring systems should be part of an over-all strategy for improving productivity. Task of such systems are to prevent unplanned downtimes and to maximize the efficiency.
